The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) established St Johns Medical College in Bangalore in the year 1963 with the aim of training medical aspirants to become healthcare professionals who are committed to serving the poor and needy. Earlier, St Johns Medical College was located in the premises of St. Mary’s Industrial School and Orphanage. St. Martha’s Hospital was affiliated to the medical college for clinical training. However, the affiliation of this hospital to the medical college was discontinued from 1983 when the medical college had its own functioning hospital. In the year 1968, St Johns Medical College moved to its permanent campus on a 140 acres land situated in the periphery of the Bangalore city.

St Johns Medical College Bangalore is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore (RGUHS) and recognized by the Medical Council of India. The medical college has been ranked among the top ten medical colleges in India. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an autonomous body funded by University Grants Commission (UGC) of Government of India, has recognized the excellence of St Johns Medical College Bangalore and accorded it with a 5 Star grading.

St Johns Medical College offers undergraduate medical course (MBBS), 19 postgraduate medical courses (MD and MS), 7 postgraduate diploma courses and super-specialty courses (DM and M.Ch.) in various disciplines. MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course

1. The candidate must have completed 17 years of age as on or before 31st December of the year of MBBS Admission.
2. To be eligible for MBBS admission at St Johns Medical College, the candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the final examination of the Pre University Course or its equivalent.
3. The candidate belonging to OBC / SC / ST must have obtained 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying examination.

Entrance Exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test UG (NEET UG) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for MBBS admission in medical colleges in India. Candidates seeking MBBS admission in St Johns Medical College Bangalore must qualify in NEET UG with required percentile as explained below:

The candidates belonging to General Category must secure 50th percentile to qualify in NEET UG, whereas the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Other Backward Class (OBC) including PWD of SC/ST/OBC have to secure 40th percentile, and the candidates belonging to Unreserved PWD have to secure 45th percentile to qualify in NEET UG exam.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Medical Courses
