AJ Institute of Medical Sciences was concepted and founded by philanthropist and educationist, Mr. A J Shetty. The first batch of this institute got enrolled in the year 2002, and the institute is funded by Laxmi Memorial Trust. MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course

1.    The applicant is required to have attained 17 years of age on or before 31st December, 2018.
2.    The candidate must have passed 12th Standard with 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
3.    Those belonging to OBC, SC or ST category are required to have secured 40% aggregate marks.

Entrance Exam

The admission to MBBS course is through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, also known as NEET UG.  It is national entrance exam which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET UG will be held on 5th May 2019, and it is a single level entrance exam. Candidates seeking admission in AJIMS must clear this exam with the required percentile as is mentioned below.

The qualifying percentile is different for each category of students. The qualifying percentile for general candidates is 50th percentile, for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST including PWD of SC/ST/OBC is 40th percentile, and for candidates belonging to unreserved PWD, the candidates need to obtain 45th percentile. 

Admission Procedure

The MBBS admission to A J Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS Mangalore)  takes place through state-level centralized counselling by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).  The KEA Authority conducts counselling on merit basis for MBBS aspirants. 

NEET UG - KEA Counselling

For MBBS admission, KEA conducts counselling for all the seats of the college. The counselling involves three rounds – the first two rounds are conducted online and the third round of counselling is done offline. The third and the final round of counselling is called as Mop-up round. 

The KEA counselling procedure involves the following steps:

1.    First, you need to visit the KEA website online and get registered.
2.    KEA publishes the list of the names of registered candidates.
3.    KEA conducts document verification Offline at KEA office in Bangalore.
4.    The names of those candidates are published whose documents are verified.
5.    The counselling is started and the candidates exercise their options.
6.    The MBBS seats are allocated.
7.    The result of the counselling is published. 
8.    The candidates exercise their choices. ( only during the first round of MBBS counselling)
9.    The candidates report at the allotted medical college. 

The students who are allotted MBBS seats at A J Institute of Medical Sciences Mangalore, must report on the day and time allotted by KEA. 

PG Medical Admission Process 

Eligibility Criteria for PG Medical Courses

1.    The candidate is required to have completed MBBS through any colleges recognised by Medical Council of India. 
2.    The candidate is required to have finished a rotatory internship on or before 31st March of the year of PG medical admission

Entrance Exam

The selection to PG medical course at AJ Institute of Medical Sciences Mangalore is done on the merit basis through NEET PG exam. The National Board of Examination (NBE) conducts NEET PG, which is an entrance test conducted at All India level. The candidates seeking admission to PG medical courses at AJIMS Mangalore should have qualified the exam with the required percentile.

6.    The PG medical seats are allocated.
7.    The result of the PG medical counselling is published. 
8.    The candidates report at the allotted medical college. 

The candidates who are allotted PG medical seat at AJ Institute of Medical Sciences Mangalore should report to the college within the date and time given by the KEA. Candidates must note that, before the commencement of second round of PG medical counselling, it is mandatory to submit original documents to KEA.
