JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research was established in the year 2008 in Mysore, Karnataka. It is a deemed to be university and part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs various educational institutions. JSS Medical College is a constituent unit of JSS University from the academic year 2008-2009. The medical college was started in the year 1984 in Mysore and is located in a sprawling 43-acres lush green campus.

JSS Medical College Mysore is among the best deemed medical colleges in Karnataka imparting quality medical education backed by extremely qualified and experienced faculty, advanced teaching aids, well-equipped laboratories, library, etc. The medical college is affiliated to JSS University Mysore and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.
JSS Medical College Mysore offers undergraduate medical course (MBBS), 22 postgraduate medical courses (MD and MS), 10 postgraduate diploma courses and 4 Super-Specialty Courses. Currently, JSS Medical College Mysore has 200 sanctioned MBBS seats, 123 sanctioned PG medical seats, 32 sanctioned PG Diploma seats and 6 sanctioned Super-Specialty seats.

JSS Primary Health Care Centre was established at Ramanuja in 1974 for annual medical check-up of the students from JSS Institutions. Another health care centre was established in 1992 at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) Campus. The Primary Health Care Centre was upgraded to hospital with 60-beds in 1986 as a requirement for teaching hospital. Later, it was converted into a 1,200-bedded hospital. His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji laid the new 1,800-bedded JSS hospital hospital in 2008 to cater to ever increasing health care needs the people. JSS Hospital is one of the India’s biggest hospitals wherein the practical training takes place for the students of JSS Medical College Mysore.

Today, JSS Medical College Mysore is one of the most sought-after deemed medical college in Karnataka for producing globally competent medical professionals.

JSS Medical College Mysore offers Undergraduate course in medicine, postgraduate medical courses (MD and MS), postgraduate diploma programmes and super-specialty courses.

Undergraduate Medical Course

JSS Medical College Mysore offers four and a half year undergraduate course in medicine i.e. Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with a one year compulsory rotating internship. The MBBS course was started in the year 1984.

Postgraduate Medical Courses

JSS Medical College Mysore offers medical courses at postgraduate level which include viz. Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS) and Postgraduate Diploma. The duration of MD and MS courses is 3 years, whereas the duration of PG Diploma course is 2 years.

MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course

1. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on or before 31st December of the year of MBBS Admission.
2. The candidate should have passed 12th Standard with 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English as one of the subjects.
3. The candidate belonging to OBC / SC / ST must secure 40% of the minimum marks.

Entrance Exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test UG (NEET UG) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for MBBS admission in medical colleges in India. The candidates seeking MBBS admission in JSS Medical College Mysore (JSSMC Mysore) must qualify in NEET UG with required percentile as explained below:

The candidates belonging to General Category must secure 50th percentile to qualify in NEET UG, whereas the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Other Backward Class (OBC) including PWD of SC/ST/OBC must secure 40th percentile, and the candidates belonging to Unreserved PWD must secure 45th percentile to qualify in NEET UG.

Admission Procedure

MBBS admission in JSS Medical College Mysore (JSSMC Mysore) will be done on the basis of the valid rank obtained in NEET UG and through merit-based counselling conducted at All India and State Levels.

NEET UG - KEA Counselling

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts merit-based counselling for few MBBS seats in JSS Medical College Mysore (JSSMC Bangalore) under Government quota in three rounds. The first two rounds of MBBS counselling will be conducted online, whereas the third round of counselling will be conducted in offline mode and is called Mop-up Round of counselling. 

The process of centralized merit-based counseling conducted by KEA for MBBS seat allotment includes following steps:

1. Publication of list of NEET UG qualified candidates
2. Online Registration by eligible candidates
3. Document Verification at KEA, Bangalore
4. Publication of State Merit List
5. Start of online counselling process
6. Exercising of choices by registered and verified candidates
7. Allocation of MBBS seats
8. Publication of Result
9. Exercising of Options (only during first round of MBBS counselling)
10. Reporting at the allotted medical college.

The candidates who will be allotted MBBS seat at JSS Medical College Mysore (JSSMC Mysore) should report at the medical college within the date and time specified by KEA.

NEET UG - MCC Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts online counselling for Management seats and NRI seats of JSS Medical College Mysore (JSSMC Mysore) in three rounds. All candidates who are qualified in NEET UG and want to pursue MBBS course in JSS Medical College Mysore are required to participate in the online counselling conducted by MCC to secure a seat at JSS Medical College Mysore.

1. The candidate seeking PG medical admission at JSS Medical College Mysore (JSSMC Mysore) should have completed MBBS from any of the reputable medical colleges recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
2. The candidate should have completed a compulsory ‘Rotational Internship’ on or before 31st March of the year of PG medical admission.
