Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College is located in Belagavi a top deemed medical colleges in Karnataka. The institute was established with the aim of community oriented self-directed research based medical learning. Jawaharlal Nehru medical college was established by the KLE society in 1963, and is best known for its infrastructural facilities. The institute has well-equipped medical laboratories and a world class museum with 300 dissected specimens and about 1000 carefully preserved models. JNMC, Belagavi hi-tech laboratories and state-of the art equipment’s give the much needed exposure to the aspiring doctors. JNMC, Belagavi has a massive infrastructure spread across 100 acres of land area. 

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical college is affiliated to medical school of KLE University and is recognized by the Medical Council of India. Even since Jawaharlal Nehru college was incepted, it was affiliated to the Government District hospital, Belagavi. Later, in 2004 JNMC, Belagavi got affiliated to Dr Prabhakar Core Charitable Hospital (PKCH).

PKCH serves as the teaching hospital for the undergraduate, postgraduate students and researchers of JNMC, Belagavi. There are 1250 beds in the hospital and80 to 90% of them are occupied at all times. Dr Prabhakar Core Charitable Hospital has been established to serve the poor and the society as a whole and it has been serving the society for decades together and is still continuing toprovide its top class medical services. 

PKCH provides the basic investments, food, stay, medicines, nursing care, investigation and treatment, free of cost. The PKCH is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and caters health care services to children belonging to District Blindness control society and Balasajeevini. 

The hospital is well-equipped with Audio-Visual aids and teaching facilities in all OPDs and wards. The departments of Anaesthesiology and Radiology have excellent museums for students to learn. The University’s department of education conducts more than 60 workshops during a year for undergraduate, postgraduate and research professionals.

There are many research papers from this college that are published in national and international journals. NIH and several other overseas universities fund the research programs at JNMC, Belagavi. Jawaharlal medical college offers plenty of other on-campus facilities as well. There is a post office, ATM, canteen, shopping arcade, medical book shop, hair cutting salon and laundry on campus for students.

MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course

1.    The candidate seeking MBBS courseadmission should have turned 17 years of age on or before 31st December. 
2.    The candidate should have passed 12th standard and scored at least an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. 
3.    The candidate belonging to OBC/SC/ST must secure at least 40% aggregate marks in the above subjects. 
4.    The candidate must be either an Indian citizen or NRI, OCI, PIO or foreign national to appear in the test. 

Entrance Exam

NEET UG is the entrance exam that is conducted at national level by NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission to MBBS course across India. To seek eligibility in the MBBS course of Jawaharlal Medical College, the candidate must qualify in NEET UGwith the required percentile as mentioned below. The candidate can take multiple attempts to qualify NEET UG. 

The qualifying percentile is different for each category of students. The qualifying percentile for general candidates is 50th percentile, for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST including PWD of SC/ST/OBC is 40th percentile, and for candidates belonging to unreserved PWD, the candidates need to obtain 45th percentile. 

Admission Procedure

The MBBS admission to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences takes place through centralized counseling which is conducted at All-India level. KEA is authorized to conduct MBBS counseling for a few seats of JNMC, Belagavi. The students seeking MBBS admission at JNMC, Belagavi must mandatorily attend the KEA counseling on the said date and venue. 

NEET UG - KEA Counselling

The KEA counseling involves a total of three rounds – the first two rounds are conducted online and the third round of counseling is done offline. The third and the final round of counseling is called as Mop-up round. 

1.    KEA publishes the list containing the names of registered candidates.
2.    KEA conducts document verification offline at its office in Bangalore.
3.    The final list of candidates are published post document verification.
4.    The counseling is started and the candidates exercise their options.
5.    The MBBS seats are allocated.
6.    The result of the counseling is published.
7.    The candidates exercise their options. (only during the first round of MBBS counselling)
8.    The candidates report at the allotted medical college. 

The candidates who are allotted MBBS seats at the Jawaharlal medical college must report on the day and time allotted by KEA.

NEET UG - MCC AIQ Counselling

The Medical Counseling Committee is authorized to conduct counseling for MBBS seats of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College . The candidates who are seeking admission in JNMC, Belagavi are required to participate in the counseling. The counseling is conducted in three rounds. JNMC, Belagavi are required to participate in MCC counseling. 

The MCC counseling procedure involves the following steps:

PG Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for PG Course

1.    The candidate is required to have completed MBBS through any colleges recognized by Medical Council of India. 
2.    The candidate is required to have finished a rotatory internship on or before 31st March of the year of PG medical admission.

Entrance Exam

The selection to PG medical course is done on the merit basis through NEET PG exam. NEET PG is conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE), which is an entrance test conducted at All India level. 

The candidates seeking admission to PG medical courses at Jawaharlal institute ofMedical Sciences, should have qualified the exam with the required percentile. The details of the qualifying percentile required by various category of students are as follows. NEET UG - MCC AIQ Counselling

The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) conducts online counseling for PG medical courses in JNMC, Belagavi in three rounds. The candidates seeking admission to PG courses at JNMC, Belagavi must appear in MCC counseling.

The online PG admission process involves the following steps:
1.    The eligible candidates are registered online .
2.    The online counseling process is started.
3.    The candidates exercise their choices.
4.    The seats are allocated.
5.    The results of the admission are published.
