Dr. B R Ambedkar Medical College is the top private medical college in Bangalore. It was established in the year 1981, in the memory of Dr. B R Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, and has been named after him. Dr. Ambedkar was awarded Bharat Ratana for his selfless services to uplift the downtrodden societies of India. Dr. B R Ambedkar Medical college also honours Gautam Buddha for his seamless compassion towards one and all. Thus, the institute aims at providinggood quality healthcare and selfless services to mankind. This institute was set up by, ‘The Ananda Social and Educational Trust.’ 

Dr. B R Ambedkar medical college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. It offers MBBS course and 18 different PG medical courses that are duly recognized by the Medical Council of India. 

Dr. Ambedkar medical college offers various undergraduate and PG medical courses under its umbrella. Amongst the undergraduate courses, it offers MBBS program. Undergraduate Medical Course

MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course

1.    Nationality: The candidate must be either an Indian citizen or can be an NRI, OCI, PIO, and foreign nationals, to appear in the NEET UGtest.
2.    Age Limit: The candidate must be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of admission. The upper age limit clause has been waived off by the Supreme Court, and the candidature of candidates is subject to acceptance by NTA.
3.    Qualification: The applicant must be 12th passed or must have passed any equivalent exam. The candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English and for OBC/SC/ST category, the aggregate score must be at least 40%.
4.    The candidate can take as many attempts as he/she wishes to appear in NEET exam. 

Entrance Exam

The admission to MBBS course is through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, also known as NEET UG.  The entrance is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET UG will be held on 5th May 2019, and it is a single level entrance exam. Candidates seeking admission in Dr B R Ambedkar College must clear this exam with the required percentile as is mentioned below.

The qualifying percentile is different for each category of students. The qualifying percentile for general candidates is 50th percentile, for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST including PWD of SC/ST/OBC is 40th percentile, andfor candidates belonging to unreserved PWD, the candidates need to obtain 45th percentile.

Admission Procedure

The MBBS admissionto Dr B R Ambedkar medical college takes place through centralized counseling which is conducted at State level. The Karnataka Examination Authority has been appointed to conduct merit basedcounselingfor MBBS students. 

NEET UG - KEA Counselling

For MBBS admission, KEA conducts counseling for all the of seats of the college. Both domicile & non-domicile candidates qualified in NEET UG can participate in the medical counseling. The counseling involves a total of three rounds – the first two rounds are conducted online and the third round of counseling is done offline. The third and the final round of counseling is called as Mop-up round. 

The KEA counseling procedure involves the following steps:

1.    The candidates need to visit the KEA website online and get registered.
2.    KEA published the list of the names of registered candidates.
3.    KEA conducts document verification offline at KEA office in Bangalore.
4.    The names of those candidates are published whose documents are verified.
5.    The counseling is started and the candidates exercise their options.
6.    The MBBS seats are allocated.
7.    The result of the counseling is published.
8.    The candidates exercise their options. (only during the first round of MBBS counselling)
9.    The candidates report at the allotted medical college. 

The candidates who are allotted MBBS seats at Dr. B R Ambedkar Medical College must report onthe day and time allotted by KEA.

PG Medical Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for PG Medical Courses

1.    The candidate is required to have completed MBBS through any colleges recognized by Medical Council of India. 
2.    The candidate is required to have finished a rotatory internship on or before 31st March of the year of PG medical admission.

Entrance Exam

The selection to PG medical course is done on the merit basis through NEET PG exam. The National Board of Examination (NBE) conducts NEET PG, which is an entrance test conducted at All India level. The candidates seeking admission to PG medical course at Dr. B R Ambedkar medical college, should have qualified the exam with the required percentile.
