Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 1986. AIMS, Bangalore was built in B D Nagar with the vision of providing good quality medical education to the rural youth. Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences was inaugurated by the then CM, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde. The institute had been established with the aim of restoring the glorious culture of India while educating the youth to become the future doctors of India. It is indeed one of the top private medical collegesin Bangalore. 

Adichunchanagiri medical college is duly recognized by the Medical Council of India, Delhi, and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka.

The Adichuchnagiri medical college offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. MBBS course has the total student intake to this course is 150. There are 12 postgraduate MD courses offered with 35 seats in total, and it provides 5 postgraduate MS courses with 22 seats in total. The institute offers 8 diploma courses in various disciplines with 18 seats in total. The total student intake to postgraduate courses along with diploma courses is 75. 

The teaching hospital of AIMS, Bangalore has currently 24 units with 705 beds. The number of beds is appropriate for admission of 150 MBBS students. The hospital is well-equipped with all advance medical care facilities. The hospital has a 24-hour ambulance facility and provides high-quality healthcare services to all. The main aim of establishing this hospital was to serve the rural and deprived to improve their health care and living standards.

MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course

1. Nationality: The candidate must be either an Indian citizen or NRI, OCI, PIO or foreign national to appear in the NEET UG test.
2. Age Limit: The candidate must be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of admission. The upper age limit clause has been waived off by the Supreme Court, and the candidature of candidates is subject to acceptance by NTA.
3. Qualification: The applicant must be 12th passed or must have passed any equivalent exam. The candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English and for OBC/SC/ST category, the aggregate score must be at least 40%.
4. The candidate can take as many attempts as he/she wishes to appear in NEET exam. 

Entrance Exam

NEET UG, National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test entrance exam is needed to be appeared in for admission to MBBS course. The entrance is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET UG will be held on 5th May 2019, and it is a single level entrance exam. Candidates seeking admission in Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciencesmust clear this exam with the required percentile as is mentioned below.

The qualifying percentile is different for each category of students. The qualifying percentile for general candidates is 50th percentile, for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST including PWD of SC/ST/OBC is 40th percentile, and for candidates belonging to unreserved PWD, the candidates need to obtain 45th percentile. 

Admission Procedure

The MBBS admission in Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciencesis on a merit basis to NEET UG program. The Karnataka Examination Authority has been appointed to conduct merit based counselling for MBBS students.

NEET UG - KEA Counselling

The centralized KEA counselling is conducted for all the of seats of the college. The counselling involves a total of three rounds – the first two rounds are conducted online and the third round of counselling is done offline. The third and the final round of counselling is called as Mop-up round. 

1. KEA publishes the list of the names of registered candidates.
2. KEA conducts document verification offline at KEA office in Bangalore.
3. The names of those candidates are published whose documents are verified.
4. The counselling starts and the candidates exercise their options.
5. The MBBS seats are allocated.
6. The result of the counselling is published.
7. The candidates exercise their options. (only during the first round of MBBS counselling)
8. The candidates report at the allotted medical college. 

The candidates who are allotted MBBS seats at the AIMS, Bangalore must report on the day and time allotted by KEA.

PG Medical Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria for PG Medical Courses

1. The candidate is required to have completed MBBS from MCI recognized college.
2. The candidate is required to have finished a rotatory internship on or before 31st March of the year of PG medical admission.

Entrance Exam

The selection to PG medical course is done on the merit basis through NEET PG exam. The National Board of Examination (NBE) conducts NEET PG, which is an entrance test conducted at All India level. 

The candidates seeking admission to PG medical course in Adichunchanagiri Medical College, should have qualified the exam with the necessary percentile. The details of the qualifying percentile required by various categories of students are as follows. NEET PG - KEA Counselling

The Karnataka Examinations Authority conducts centralized merit-based counselling for admission to PG medical seats in Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences. The counselling is done in three rounds. The first two rounds are online and the third round called as the Mop-up round is conducted offline. 

The KEA counselling procedure involves the following steps:

1.    First the candidates need to visit the KEA website and get registered online.
2.    The list of names of registered candidates is then published by KEA.
3.    KEA verifies document offline at KEA office in Bangalore.
4.    Once the documents are verified, then the names of the candidates are published.
5.    Once the counselling begins, the candidates exercise their options.
6.    The PG medical seats are allocated.
7.    Theresult of PG medical counselling is published.
8.    The candidates report at the allotted medical college. 

The candidates who are allotted PG medical seats at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences should report to the college within the date and time reported by the KEA. Candidates must note that before the commencement of second round of PG medical counselling, it is mandatory to submit original documents to KEA.
