The Vokkaligara Sangha, established in the year 1906, took a formal decision in the year 1979 to start a private medical college in Bangalore. In the year 1980, the foundation stone of Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Bangalore (KIMS Bangalore) was laid by the then Honorable. Chief Minister Shri R. Gundu Rao in campus of Vokkaligara Sangha. Later, a vacant land in Banashankari, Bangalore was granted to Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Bangalore (KIMS Bangalore)for the construction of its building and hostels.

MBBS Admission Process
Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course
1. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on or before 31st December of the year of MBBS Admission.
2. The candidate should have passed 12th Standard with 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English as one of the subjects.
3. The candidate belonging to OBC / SC / ST should have secured 40% of the minimum marks.
